Adrianne painted Power as one of ten pieces in a series of paintings called The Human Nature Collection. The Human Nature Collection explores parts of what Adrianne calls “the experiential human wilderness”: parts of our inner experience that we go through as we move through life’s landscape.
Adrianne painted Power as an expression of soft power: power that is held in relationship with the entire web of life. Power is not always "power over", but at its healthiest, is "power in relationship with". This painting was meant to be an expression of that kind of power, the power that works with the timing and needs of other beings in order to create a healthy balance across life on our planet.
Adrianne says: "I chose Power as a theme amongst my Human Nature collection because I feel that our relationship to power is a fundamental part of our human nature. The most effective power is always going to be power that takes relationships with all beings into account, and doesn't just steamroll its own will over everything in its path."
