"The Windwoman" originated as a personal piece for Adrianne. It's an illustration of a world she imagined long ago: where nomadic women roam a world not too different from our own, bringing medicine and healing to the people they encounter in different cultures along the way.
Adrianne says: "I began writing about The Windwoman - a fantasy story I imagined - while I was still in art school in the early aughts. It's a story that encapsulated my inner world, and became a place I would often escape to when life got overwhelming. I revisited it recently, and painted this piece of one of the characters. The spirit in it feels like my most idealized version of life - a nomadic existence of healing, connecting, and finding spirit in everything."
