ABOUT
Adriane Tamar Arachne
I came into this world a sensitive soul: taking refuge in fantasy worlds, nature, and my imagination. My burning passion was always stories. Stories that made me feel captivated by color, light, and depth.
This, of course, resulted in art. Art became the way I understood the world around me. And with some natural talent combined with a number of early art classes, I developed my artistic skills at a young age.
Realizing I needed to pursue art professionally, I underwent a few hardworking years at Academy Of Art University, San Francisco, in my early 20’s in hopes of a career as a concept artist at a major film or animation studio. Unfortunately, life had other plans, and I dropped out a couple years into my degree. Deflated by the detour, I didn’t create much for a while. But then, a spiritual awakening knocked on my door a year later, and I began a path of magic that took me into many cultures, rituals, and practices over the following 10 years.
I learned a lot about humanity, the worlds we all have inside of us, and how magical we all really are. And.. my creativity came back online.
My art skills merged with this deepening of my soul, and it became my life’s work to tell visionary stories about human and non-human worlds.
These days, I love to make art that tells stories about the worlds we carry inside of us. Visions of our inner wilderness, and all the things that live there. To me, this inner wilderness isn’t much different than the wilderness outside of us.. which is why I often use symbols, creatures, and ecology from the outer to describe the inner.
I’m also inspired by visionary explorations of broad concepts and themes, specific geographies across the planet, and whales. Lots of whales.
If my art connects with your inner world in some way, I’m truly honored. This unique artist path has been a wilderness in its own right, and I’ve been incredibly grateful to find kindred souls along the way. Thank you for being one.
MEDIUMS
Nearly all of the artwork on this website was created in painstaking detail with oil paint, a medium I have worked with for decades.
Oil paint has a timeless quality. Made from pigment suspended in a carrier oil, it allows light to pass through the surface, touch the pigment, and reflect back with a depth and luminosity that is difficult to match. This glow is one of the reasons I remain so devoted to it.
It is also a slow and patient medium. Oil paintings require time to layer, dry, and develop. I often work on several pieces at once, allowing each painting to move at its own pace. Some are completed in a matter of weeks, while others take months or even a year.
I also work in colored pencil, graphite, charcoal, and digital painting. The Last Unicorn Tarot Deck is an example of my digital design work, with each card hand-drawn on a tablet using a digital painting program. This is an AI-free art zone. None of the artwork here was created by AI. Every piece was conceived and created by a real human being.
