Survival Concept Sketch is a framed 8.5"x11"concept sketch created by Adrianne on toned paper, with a hanging wire installed for immediate hanging.
This was a concept sketch created for the Survival painting, exploring the symbols, world, and themes of the piece in pencil before it was referenced to create the painting.
Adrianne says: "Concept sketches like this one really showcase the visionary process that goes into my work. When I created this sketch for Survival, I explored the idea of what it feels like to have the urgency of a life-or-death situation pressing in on a person from every angle (represented by the sharks), and to feel the full thrust of determination to simply survive to the next moment. The baby turtle felt like the ultimate symbol of survival to me, which is part of why I put it at the heart of the central character."
